At IE we believe that only through education can all of these 17 SDGs be achieved; education to provide knowledge and content, to develop skills and even attitudes that will empower people to act and have a positive impact in their communities. Our decade of action has already started, we are working for our people and for our planet by transitioning to become an experiential place of learning for sustainable development. We are orienting all of our processes towards principles of sustainability, tackling social, environmental and economic issues.
• We commit to making fundamental changes in the way that our community consumes goods, as well as manages waste generated.
• We foster diversity and intercultural understanding, tolerance, mutual respect and an ethic of global citizenship and shared responsibility.
• To reach our goal of educating best leaders, we equip students with the requisite knowledge, skills, attitudes and values to create a sustainable future. To that end, students cultivate critical and creative thinking skills, engage in authentic interdisciplinary learning activities and develop a value system that emphasizes responsibility to self, others and the planet.
Join our 10 year challenge: 10 years, 10 challenges to fully transform our our educational institution at all levels to help people think and behave in ways that foster a more sustainable planet; global citizenship, recycling, climate change, biodiversity, renewable energy and social responsibility.
2020 Challenge: Responsible consumption – our objective is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2030. To reach this objective, IE University will be focused on:
– Efficient use of energy, space and water
– Reduction of paper and single use containers in our campus.
– Healthyful and local food consumption.
While the University has committed itself to achieving overall sustainability, it will take the active participation of the entire IE community to pitch in, turn off, conserve and re-evaluate daily habits for IE University to realize its vision.
